Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 12, 2026

Effective: May 23, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them when using NDO.

1) What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They help the website remember information about your visit — like your preferences, your login status, or which pages you've viewed. Cookies make websites work better and help us understand how people use NDO.

For broader information about personal data handling, see our Privacy Policy.

2) How We Use Cookies

Essential cookies (always on)

These are required for NDO to function and cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

  • Authentication cookies — keep you signed in
  • Session cookies — maintain your session as you navigate
  • Security cookies — protect against fraud and unauthorized access
  • Preference cookies — remember basic settings like dark mode and cookie consent

Analytics cookies (optional, requires consent)

These help us understand feature usage and improve NDO. You can opt out without affecting core functionality.

  • PostHog — product analytics, feature usage tracking, session replay (with PII masking)

What we do not use

  • Advertising cookies — we don't run ads on NDO and we don't share data with advertising networks
  • Third-party tracking cookies — we don't allow third parties to drop tracking cookies through our site
  • Social media cookies — we don't embed social media widgets that drop cookies

Cookieless services

We use Plausible Analytics for web analytics. Plausible is cookieless and does not use persistent identifiers requiring cookie consent under EU/UK cookie laws.

3) Specific Cookies We Use

Essential

  • session_id — session management. Expires when you close your browser.
  • auth_token — keeps you signed in. Expires after 30 days of inactivity.
  • csrf_token — protects against cross-site request forgery. Expires when you close your browser.
  • cookie_consent — remembers cookie preferences. Expires after 1 year.

Analytics (with consent)

  • ph_phc_* (PostHog) — anonymized user identifier and session data. Expires after 1 year.

4) Managing Cookies

Cookie banner

When you first visit NDO, you should see a cookie banner to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Essential cookies load regardless. Your preference is remembered for one year, then the banner reappears.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page.

Browser controls

Most browsers allow cookie controls in settings. You can:

  • Block all cookies (may break essential functionality on most websites)
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Clear cookies when browser closes
  • Use private/incognito mode

Browser help paths:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

5) Do Not Track

Some browsers send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal. Because there is no universal standard for DNT, we currently treat DNT as an opt-out from analytics cookies, equivalent to declining non-essential cookies.

6) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or by posting a prominent notice on the website at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
